The Luckiest

Last night Matt & I celebrated our 3 year anniversary. The day started off nicely. I got up early (voluntarily!), made breakfast, and we got to enjoy a nice semi-quiet breakfast together before Matt headed to work. The dog was there, begging for bacon of course. But, we never get to have time like that to ourselves anymore, so it was a nice change of pace. Although, we found ourselves talking about Jack, and checking the monitor every other minute. But that's alright! The traditional third year gift is glass, so I got some very nice long stemmed white wine glasses. Our big gift to eachother this year (and for the 2 years prior) is going to a Bears game. This year we'll be going on Nov 14th to the Bears/Lions game. Hopefully it'll be better than the game against them a few weeks ago! Immediately after we finished eating breakfast, Jack was beginning to stir, so I got him up and started our day. He's always in a good mood first thing in the morning, which is nice considering he hasn't eaten for about 10hrs. He's doing so well sleeping through the night now! He gets tired around 9, we do bath and bottle, get some cuddles in, and he's down by 10, waking again between 7-730 now. Sometimes he'll stir in the middle of the night, but always puts himself back to sleep without mommy having to go in there to soothe him :-)  When Matt got home from work, we all went out to dinner at The White Chocolate Grill in Naperville. It was really good. We splurged and I really enjoyed the southwest-ish chicken egg roll appetizer, crab cakes entre, and dessert which was a white chocolate brownie with icecream. I also enjoyed a white chocolate martini, or two ;-)

Best part of it, Jack was an angel the whole night! We knew we were taking a gamble taking him to a nice restaurant, but it was loud enough, and he was sleepy enough, that he looked around for awhile, then fell asleep just in time for dinner, waking right before we had to leave.

In other news, I didn't make it to dinner on Monday night like I had planned. I got a call from my friend saying her son was sick, so we will have to reschedule. This weekend promises to be a busy one: taking the dog to the Miner's tomorrow night so they can watch him for us for the weekend, driving to Lafayette Friday morning, Matt & I will be going to a wedding in Indy Saturday while my parents watch Jack, Matt's flying to Cali on Sunday morning for business, returning Tuesday night, at which time we'll drive home. So, I get a couple of extra days with my family, which is always nice. And, I hope to see Adam and Emily on Sunday since we have to miss their baby shower on Saturday.

Tonight, I think I get to get outta the house for awhile by myself! I want to stop by Once Upon a Child to check out their stuff. I've never been there, but I'm wanting to find some not-so-expensive toys/clothes for Jack. We desperately want to move in the upcomming year or so, and with me not working anymore, I'm trying to save $$ wherever possible! Hope to find at least a few things for him there. Luckily, we got so much stuff for him as gifts, we really haven't had to purchase much for him besides diapers, wipes, & formula, & a few other neccessities here & there. I also want to get my hair cut. I've been back and forth on whether or not to get a cute mom cut, but it's long now & I think I'll stick with it...for the time being!

Yesterday was a great day full of love & reminders of how blessed and lucky I am to have such a wonderful family! I really am the luckiest :-)

Here's Jack and his brother Oscar playing. 10.18.11

Now I'm off to do a little reading and relaxing while baby naps!
